Mission and Vision
The Lexington Housing Authority’s mission is to maintain a responsive agency that meets the housing needs of its many different constituents as well as the broader Davidson County community. We promote self-sufficiency, personal growth and community inclusiveness, while maximizing our resources and maintaining the fiscal responsibility entrusted to this agency.
The Lexington Housing Authority believes that housing and related services are essential components of a strong and vibrant community – impacting the education, health, and well-being of all people. Therefore, we will be intentional in our approach to assist the residents of Davidson County with affordable housing opportunities. We embrace the unique contributions and perspectives brought by residents, staff, Commissioners, and the community at large. We will continue to cultivate caring and knowledgeable staff and provide exceptional and fair service to all.
The Lexington Housing Authority (LHA) was chartered as a non-profit corporation in January 1962 under General Statutes, Article 157 of the State of North Carolina to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing to the low-income citizens of Davidson County. The Authority operates in accordance with regulations promulgated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and as provided for by the terms of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937. LHA is governed by a 5 member board of commissioners.
The Lexington Housing Authority administers vouchers under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Housing Choice Voucher program which includes housing choice vouchers, project-based vouchers and homeownership vouchers.
